How to Replace a Gasket on a GE Profile Dishwasher

If you own a General Electric Profile stainless steel dishwasher and you have water leaking from the sides of the appliance, then you might have a broken gasket. The gasket is a long, black, rubber piece that borders the area between the dishwasher tub and door to prevent leaks from occurring. Before you take out the gasket, find the broken piece to make sure that it is the gasket that is causing the leakage and to determine if the part needs to be replaced.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your GE Profile dishwasher door, then find the black, rubber gasket inserted along the inner edges of the dishwasher.

    • 2

Press your fingers all along the gasket to check for any leaks or portions of the gasket that are ripped. If there is any type of damage, then you can replace the gasket with a new one.

    • 3

Pull out the gasket entirely with your hand, and then take out the wire connection to the bottom ends of the gasket. Discard the broken gasket.

    • 4

Find the white mark on the new gasket, and then insert the gasket at the top center of the dishwasher with the white line facing inward.

    • 5

Push in the rest of the gasket into place in the dishwasher, then reinsert the wire into both of the bottom ends of the gasket.
