How to Load the Gel in a Dishwasher

Loading gel into your dishwasher is generally the same regardless of the dishwasher manufacturer. Many people choose to use gel dishwasher detergents instead of powders because of the residue some powders leave behind on dishes. Gels dissolve quickly during the wash cycle, and are less messy than powders. Unlike powders, gels also will not interfere with the dispenser door operation if you accidentally overfill the dispenser. Loading gels into your dishwasher is the same as loading powdered detergents.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the dishwasher door and load the dirty dishes onto the dish racks.

    • 2

Flip the latch or push the tab on the soap dispenser door, and open the dispenser door. Open the cap on the bottle of gel dishwasher detergent.

    • 3

Place the top of the dishwasher detergent bottle over the soap dispenser cavity. Squeeze the bottle slightly to fill the dispenser, according to the volume of dishes you are washing. There are several lines or depths in the dispenser cavity. For small loads, fill to the first line; for large loads, fill to the top line.

    • 4

Close the dispenser door, and push down until it locks into place. The door springs open during the wash cycle. If the door is not latched before starting the dishwasher, the gel will enter the dishwasher prematurely.

    • 5

Fill the door-less dispenser with gel. This is your dishwasher's pre-wash dispenser, which is usually next to the wash dispenser. The dish detergent mixes with the incoming water immediately.
