Turn off the circuit breaker to the Kenmore dishwasher. Use a nut driver to remove the screws securing the bottom toe panel to the dishwasher. There are two screws on the bottom and two on the top of the toe panel. Pull the toe panel away from the dishwasher.
Open the dishwasher door and lift the float off the housing. Depending on the model, the float is either in the right-front corner or left-rear corner on the dishwasher floor. The float most often lifts straight off, while some models require bending the float slightly to unsnap it from the housing. Close the dishwasher door.
Remove the screw securing the float switch under the dishwasher. The float switch is a square box directly under the float. Lower the float switch with the front facing you.
Unsnap the float switch cover from the switch for access to the two wires. Grab the wire ends with your fingers and pull them off the switch terminals. Take the float switch out of the dishwasher.
