# How to Remove the Basket in a Tappan Dishwasher
Tappan dishwashers have a silverware basket located on the bottom rack of the dishwasher. Depending on the model of your Tappan dishwasher, the basket may be oblong or square. Unlike some other models of dishwashers, the silverware basket in your Tappan dishwasher is removable, which allows you to bring the entire basket to your silverware drawer for quick unloading, with few trips back and forth to the dishwasher.

Open the dishwasher door, and then pull the lower dish rack out.

Rearrange the silverware contained in the basket if it is unevenly distributed to one side. If the silverware basket is not properly balanced, the basket may be awkward or difficult to carry, resulting in silverware falling out of the basket onto the floor.

Grasp the basket by the handle and pull straight up to remove the basket from the lower dish rack.

Carry the basket with two hands: one on the handle and one on the side, bracing the basket.
