# Removal of a GE Profile Dishwasher's Spray Assembly
Hard water, debris from dirty dishes and dishwashing detergents can cause the GE Profile dishwasher spray assembly to become clogged and fail to thoroughly clean your dishes. To remove any buildup clogging the spray holes in the spray arms, you must remove the spray assembly from the bottom of the dishwasher. Once you remove the assembly, clean it with gentle detergents and rinse thoroughly before replacing. GE recommends cleaning the spray arms regularly, especially if you have hard water.

Disconnect the breaker supplying electricity to your GE Profile Dishwasher. Attempt to turn on the dishwasher to confirm you turned off the correct breaker in your main electrical panel.

Remove both the upper and lower dish racks by pulling them out of the dishwasher and then pull up to release them from the runners. The bottom dish rack may not have runners and simply lifts out.

Grasp the spray assembly arms. Gently lift the assembly as your turn the assembly counterclockwise. Continue to turn the assembly with this lifting motion until the spray assembly releases from the bottom of the washer.
