How to Install a Door Gasket on a Frigidaire Dishwasher

If you notice water leaking on the floor after running your Frigidaire dishwasher, it may be time to replace the door gasket. The wash tub of your Frigidaire dishwasher is surrounded on three sides by a rubber gasket, which forms a watertight seal when the dishwasher door is closed. The gasket ensures that water does not exit the wash tub during the operation of the appliance. As all rubber components do, the gasket will eventually break down over time, at which point you must replace it to restore the water-tight seal of your dishwasher.

Instructions

    • 1

      Open the dishwasher door.

    • 2

Remove the door gasket by grasping the end of the gasket and pulling it away from the wash tub. Continue pulling the gasket until it is completely removed from the dishwasher.

    • 3

Place the new door gasket in hot water for approximately five minutes, which softens the rubber, making it more pliable.

    • 4

Locate the dot on the door gasket, which indicates the center of the gasket.

    • 5

Align the dot with the door latch, then firmly press the gasket into the gasket channel.

    • 6

Press the gasket into the gasket channel along one side of the dishwasher until it is completely inserted.

    • 7

Press the other side of the gasket into the gasket channel until completely inserted.

    • 8

Close the dishwasher door. Keep the door latched for several hours -- the longer the better -- to allow the gasket to mold to the gasket channel.
