How to Install the Rack Stop in My Whirlpool Dishwasher

The upper dish rack in a Whirlpool dishwasher is built with a rack stop on the end of each sliding rail. The rack stops prevent the dish rack from pulling completely out of the appliance and crashing onto the open dishwasher door or the bottom rack, if it is also extended. Rack stops can be removed to take out the upper rack for repairs to the vinyl coating on the wires or to replace the entire part. The rack stops must be replaced so the upper dish rack will operate properly. No tools are needed.

Instructions

    • 1

Open and lower the dishwasher door to pull out the upper rack halfway from inside the appliance.

    • 2

Grip the plastic cap on the end of the left rail and twist it inward, to the right, to unlock the old rack stop. Pull the part straight out of the metal rack glide.

    • 3

Remove the old rack stop on the right side by twisting the plastic cap inward, to the left. Pull the part out of the metal glide.

    • 4

Insert the new rack stops into the ends of the metal glides st the arrow on the rack stop's cap points inward.

    • 5
