How to Clean the Pump Filter on a Whirlpool DU1055XTSQ2 Dishwasher

Below the lower dish rack of a Whirlpool model DU1055XTSQ2 dishwasher is a plastic filter that prevents pieces of food and other debris from passing through the drain pump and into the plumbing. Blockages may still occur, however, even if you always scrape off leftovers before you load the dishwasher. Clean the filter as often as possible to avoid interruptions to the wash cycle.

Instructions

    • 1

Pull the lower dish rack out of the empty appliance to gain access to the filter. Use a paper towel to wipe away food scraps that have accumulated on or near the filter.

    • 2

Fill a container with 2 cups of white vinegar and place it on the lower dish rack. Slide the rack into the dishwasher and close the door without adding detergent.

    • 3

Select any cycle and tap "Heated Dry" until the light above goes out. The cycle dishwasher should be allowed to air dry.

    • 4

Press "Start/Pause" and allow the dishwasher to complete its cycle. The vinegar mixes with the wash water and cleans the entire appliance, including the filter. Wipe up any new scraps with a paper towel.
