How to Troubleshoot a KitchenAid Whisper Quiet

KitchenAid manufactures and sells a drawer dishwasher line with a Whisper Quiet insulation feature. According to the company this feature makes these units produce significantly less noise while in use than other types of dishwashers. Between the washing, drying and draining processes, a KitchenAid Whisper Quiet dishwasher can be complicated to troubleshoot. However, the user manual provides all the information you need to do some basic troubleshooting.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the power supply to the unit if it won’t turn on or stops in the middle of a cycle. Verify that the drawer is closed tightly without any obstructions if the unit still won’t run.

    • 2

Verify that the sprayer arm is able to rotate freely if you hear thumping noises during the unit’s cycle. Check that the trim strips are installed properly if the entire cycle is louder than usual.

    • 3

Verify that the dishes are loaded correctly if they come out soiled, because incorrectly loaded dishes can block the sprayer from reaching all of the dishes. Check that you’re using the correct amount of detergent as indicated on the box. Be sure to use the heaviest cycle for the dishes with heavy soils.

    • 4

Check the information panel to verify that the cycle is actually complete if there is still water in the tub at the end of the cycle. Check the drain for food or any foreign objects keeping the water from draining properly. Verify that the drain hose on the back isn’t bent or being obstructed in some way.
