Screw a water pressure gauge over one of the faucets in the home. Once it is tightly on the faucet, open the faucet all the way and read the gauge to see the water pressure level. It should be 20 to 120 pounds per square inch, with 80 the best level.
Increase the water pressure in your home if it is under 80 pounds per square inch. The method for doing this varies with your plumbing system. Consult a plumber if you are unsure how to do so.
Open the dishwasher door. Pull out the lower rack so you can access the spray arm.
Use a pair of pliers to remove the bolt holding the center of the spray arm in place. Pull the spray arm up and out of the dishwasher.
Use regular dishwashing liquid to fill your sink with hot, soapy water. Lower the spray arm into the water and let it soak overnight. Scrub the holes in the spray arm with an old toothbrush to remove any clogs.
Rinse the spray arm in clean water. Replace it in the dishwasher, and replace the lower rack.
