How to Open a Jammed GE Profile Dishwasher Door

The GE Profile dishwasher locks its door during the cleaning cycle, and can become jammed if the dishwasher is overloaded with dishes, which results in an incomplete cleaning cycle. An incomplete cycle keeps the dishwasher permanently locked, and prevents you from opening the door to access your dishes. A manual drain of the dishwasher's water followed by resetting the appliance is required to unlock the door to retrieve your dishes. Once the dishwasher is unlocked, a rewash of the dishes is necessary.
