How To Clean an Under-the-Counter Whirlpool Dishwasher

Whirlpool first began making washing machines in 1911, when the company was called the Upton Machine Company. The company started making dishwashers about 1945, and changed its name to Whirlpool in 1949. Since that time, the company has become a leading manufacturer of dishwashers and offers multiple dishwasher models. Whirlpool dishwashers are designed to last a long time, but they require maintenance to keep them working optimally. Cleaning an under-the-counter Whirlpool dishwasher requires some basic materials and a short series of moderately easy steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Empty the dishwasher. This helps you clean it more efficiently.

    • 2

Pour a quart of white vinegar into the dishwasher. White vinegar is useful for cleaning stains off the plastic inside the dishwasher, and it deodorizes as well.

    • 3

Run the dishwasher on high heat so the vinegar mixes with hot water and circulates throughout the dishwasher.

    • 4

Open the dishwasher once the cycle is finished and rub down the entire inside with a soft sponge. Wear rubber gloves, because it will be very hot inside the dishwasher after the heat cycle concludes.

    • 5

Use needle-nose pliers to remove any accumulated food debris from the drain and from the inside of the door seals.

    • 6

Inspect the racks and the rollers to verify that there is no debris stuck anywhere. Use a toothbrush soaked in vinegar to remove anything you find.
