Troubleshooting a Bosch SHX45M05UC Dishwasher That Will Not Drain

The design and placement of the control panel on Bosch's SHX45M05UC model dishwasher may differ from the controls you have experienced using other dishwashers. Water can remain at the bottom of the dishwasher after you open the door to stop or interrupt a cycle. Standing water that has already been mixed with food waste and other matter can cause your machine to sour and emit odors. You only need to follow a few extra steps to get the dishwasher to properly drain water. If that does not work, you can troubleshoot other drain-related issues.

Instructions

    • 1

Pull the dishwasher door open, slowly and carefully. Open the door just wide enough to see the control buttons that lie inside the door when it is closed, on the top-outer rim of the door panel.

    • 2

Press and hold down the "Cancel" and "Drain" buttons for three seconds. Alternatively, some dishwasher models have buttons labeled, "Cancel" and "Reset."

    • 3

Reclose the door. Wait and monitor the dishwasher while the cycle is completed, including draining. This should only take about one minute, compared to the "Regular Wash" cycle setting, which can last 119 minutes.

    • 4

Open the door, again. Press the "On/Off" button. Do as you wish, such as starting a new cycle.

    • 5

Check the drain hose, if the water is not pumping from the dishwasher. The drain hose should be located about 20 inches above the dishwasher's enclosure door, according to proper installation procedures. Make sure the hose is not kinked or clogged.

Check the kitchen sink's drainage as well for clogs and air gaps.
