How to Troubleshoot a Bosch Dishwasher Model SHU33A06UC/40

The SHU33A06UC/40 is a Bosch dishwasher manufactured in the late 90s and currently discontinued. As the base model in this series, the SHU33A06UC/40 didn't have some of the more advanced features of the time -- child lock, audible cycle completion, etc -- but it was still a popular model for its price range. As a discontinued model, it can be difficult to find parts and service conveniently, if at all. However, you might avoid a service call by troubleshooting small malfunctioning issues yourself.

Instructions

    • 1

Check that the unit is getting electricity if none of the indicator lights come on.

    • 2

Open the dishwasher door to check for any obstructions preventing the door from fulling closing if the indicator lights are on but the cycle won’t start. Close the door again and press the “Start” button.

    • 3

Open the water valve or check the inlet filter for blockages if the unit won’t move to the rinse cycle because water isn’t getting to the unit.

    • 4

Verify that drainage hose or filter isn’t clogged or obstructed in some way if the dishwasher won’t drain.

    • 5

Check the rinse aid dispenser on the right side of the inside door panel if the dishes do not dry because an empty rinse aid dispenser can cause that.

    • 6

Call for service if any of the above actions doesn’t rectify the problem with your dishwasher.
