How to Remove a Kenmore Dishwasher Door Vent

The vent in the door of your Kenmore dishwasher automatically opens between washes to allow steam and moisture produced by drying dishes to escape. You might want to remove the vent to access the internal filter screen and other components if the mechanism becomes blocked with food scraps or other foreign objects. Disconnect power to your dishwasher before you remove the door vent as you will be working with electrical parts.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the six screws that hold the control panel in place around the top of the door once power has been disconnected. When the control panel drops down, disconnect the wiring harness.

    • 2

Loosen but do not remove the Torx head screws that hold the left side of the outer door panel to the door frame. This will give you extra room if you need to remove the active vent assembly completely.

    • 3

Insert a flat head screwdriver into the slot on the inside cover of the active vent and spin the entire mechanism a quarter turn counterclockwise. The vent assembly will drop clear of the dishwasher door.
