How to Replace the Gasket on a GE Nautilus Dishwasher

General Electric Nautilus dishwashers are built-in models, intended for use in a residential kitchen. The dishwashers offer many unique features, such as Hotstart, which pre-heats the dishwasher's water supply, dual wash arms, six wash cycles and a QuietPower motor, which reduces the noise level emitted by the dishwasher's motor during operation. The dishwashers have a tub gasket that surrounds the wash tub, which when compressed by the dishwasher door forms a water-tight seal. If the gasket is damaged or begins to deteriorate with age, you must remove it and install a new one.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the new gasket in a bucket filled with hot water, which softens the rubber, making it easier to install in the dishwasher. Allow the gasket to remain in the water for several minutes.

    • 2

Open the dishwasher door, and then grasp the bottom of the door gasket.

    • 3

Pull the gasket away from the gasket channel until it is removed from the dishwasher. Discard the old gasket.

    • 4

Remove the new gasket from the hot water, and locate the center of the gasket. The center of the gasket is indicated on the gasket itself by a red dot.

    • 5

Align the gasket with the door latch at the top of the wash tub, and press the gasket into the gasket channel at that point. Starting at that central point, press the gasket into the channel around the entire wash tub, using your fingers, until the gasket is fully inserted.

    • 6

Close and latch the dishwasher door. Allow it to remain closed for several hours, which allows the gasket to mold to the gasket channel.
