How to Clean the Filter on a Whirlpool Gold Quiet Partner IV Dishwasher

The Whirlpool Gold Quiet Partner IV dishwasher comes with features that help you effectively clean your dishes, pots and pans according to your needs. The double filter system in this Whirlpool dishwasher traps food, debris and mineral deposits to keep your dishes cleaner. Left unattended, the filters become full of debris and can no longer do their job. Because this affects the performance of your dishwasher, you must clean the double filters regularly to keep them in top working order.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the filter system in the bottom of your Whirlpool dishwasher, underneath the arm.

    • 2

Grasp the cylindrical upper filter with your hand. Turn it counterclockwise one-fourth of a turn. Lift the filter assembly out of the dishwasher.

    • 3

Separate the upper and lower filters by carefully pulling them in opposite directions.

    • 4
Diluted vinegar solution effectively dissolves hard water stains.

Fill a large, shallow bowl with 1 cup of water and 1/2 cup of white vinegar. Soak the filters in the diluted vinegar solution for 20 minutes to remove mineral deposits and hard water stains that can clog the filter screens.

    • 5

Hold the upper cylindrical filter under running water to rinse it. Gently scrub the filter with an old, soft toothbrush, if needed, to remove stuck-on debris. Repeat this step with the half-moon-shaped lower filter.

    • 6

Set the filters on a clean towel to air dry for 30 minutes. Place the filters back in your Whirlpool Gold Quiet Partner IV dishwasher per the manufacturer's instructions.
