How to Install a Drain Pump in a Frigidaire Dishwasher

When you are running a cleaning cycle with your Frigidaire dishwasher, there may be instances where the water doesn't drain within the appliance. If you experience flooding in the dishwasher, your drain pump motor may be broken. You can manually remove the drain pump motor from the sump pump assembly in the dishwasher and install a new pump motor that will allow water to be properly drained out when a cycle is being run.

Instructions

    • 1

Disconnect the electrical power from the Frigidaire dishwasher from your kitchen circuit breaker.

    • 2

Remove the screws from the lower kickplate on the bottom front of the dishwasher using a screwdriver.

    • 3

Lift up and remove the lower kickplate. Locate the sump pump assembly in the bottom center of the unit.

    • 4

Place a shallow pan below the current drain pump to catch any excess water that may drip out.

    • 5

Press down on the clamp holding the drain hose in place using pliers, and then lift out the hose from underneath the dishwasher.

    • 6

Remove the bolt holding the drain pump motor in place using an adjustable wrench, then turn the motor to dislodge it.

    • 7

Lift up and remove the entire pump motor from the dishwasher. Place the new drain pump motor into the dishwasher.

    • 8

Turn the motor to lock it into place, then reinsert the bolt onto the motor. Reconnect the drain hose to the motor so that it latches into place.

    • 9

Place the lower kickplate back onto the dishwasher, and reinsert the screws into the panel. Turn the electrical power back on from the circuit breaker.
