How to Repair a Leaking Door on a GE Dishwasher

The GE dishwasher is a high-powered home appliance susceptible to leaks caused by loose tension on the door. The door's tension determines its movement and ineffectively closes the door if the tension is loose. Poor tension of the dishwasher door causes slight openings that allow water to escape while the dishwasher washes and rinses. You'll need to tighten the tension to eliminate open cracks in the door and prevent water leaks during use.

Instructions

    • 1

Pull the dishwasher out of its built-in counter space and locate the door's pulley cable on the left side of the dishwasher's door.

    • 2

Lift the pulley cable hook connected to the dishwasher from its current hole and insert it into the tension hole to the left of its current position.

    • 3

Locate the pulley cable on the right side of the dishwasher and remove the pulley cable's hook out of its current hole.

    • 4

Insert the pulley cable's hook into the hole to the right of the hook's current position to tighten the tension for the right side. The left and right sides should have the same position for the pulley cables to ensure the tension is balanced.

    • 5

Pull open the dishwasher door to test the tension. The door quickly closes when pushed up toward the dishwasher.

    • 6

Push the dishwasher back into the counter space to resume normal use.
