How to Fix a Leaky Magic Chef Dishwasher

Magic Chef produces many appliances, both large and small, ranging from blenders to dishwashers. Large appliances, such as Magic Chef dishwashers, are manufactured by Whirlpool. Magic Chef dishwashers have a gasket that wraps around the wash tub’s sides and top, sealing in water during the wash cycle. After repeated use, this gasket may crack, tear or deteriorate. When this happens, remove it and install a new gasket.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the dishwasher door and examine the gasket.

    • 2

Remove the old gasket from the dishwasher gasket channel. Grasp the gasket’s bottom and pull it firmly away from the appliance. As you tug, the gasket pulls out of the gasket channel. Continue pulling until the gasket is completely removed.

    • 3

Soak the new gasket in hot water for several minutes. This softens the rubber.

    • 4

Locate the gasket’s center, which is marked with a red dot. Align it in the gasket channel with the door latch. Press the gasket firmly into the gasket channel.

    • 5

Work your way around the wash tub, firmly pressing the gasket into the channel until the gasket is fully inserted.

    • 6

Close and latch the dishwasher door. Allow the door to remain latched closed for several hours so that the gasket molds into the gasket channel.
