Clean the exterior of your dishwasher by wiping it down with a soft cloth. Use a nonabrasive cleanser for spots and stains. An appliance cleaner can keep the front panel shining. Don't use scouring pads or powders, or harsh chemicals, as they could dull or scratch the finish. Open the door and wipe down the sides, since food particles and dirt can collect in this area.
Spray arms blast water and cleaning solution onto your dishes. LG dishwashers feature multiple spray arms at the top and bottom of the dishwasher, and some models feature a center spray arm. Food particles can clog the spray arms. Check them regularly. If you find one is clogged, remove it by loosening the nut that holds the arm in place. You can unclog the holes by running hot water over them, or you can use a bent paper clip to clear the holes. Replace the arm and retighten the nut.
Don't let dishwasher detergent sit in the dispensers for an extended period of time. The detergent can absorb moisture and clog the dispenser. If this happens, remove all the detergent and dispose of it. Rinse the dispenser and dry it. Fill the dispenser with detergent only when you're ready to run the dishwasher. Don't use laundry detergent or dish-washing liquid in your dishwasher.
LG recommends if you're going to be away from home for an extended period in the summer, you unplug the dishwasher and close the water valve. If you're away in the winter and there's a risk of freezing, disconnect the water lines, blow out all the water and shut off the water valve.
