How to Disconnect a Dishwasher Spray Tower

Your dishwasher uses one or more spray arms mounted on a spray tower to clean your dishes. Over time, those spray arms, and the spray tower itself, can wear out, and when that happens, those parts need to be replaced. You can save a lot of money by learning how to disconnect and replace the spray tower and spray arms on your dishwasher on your own instead of relying on a professional to do the work.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the dishwasher before you begin. Never attempt any repairs or parts replacements on a dishwasher before first disconnecting the power source.

    • 2

Open the door of the dishwasher and remove the bottom dish rack. Set the dish rack aside in a safe place.

    • 3

Locate the spray tower in the center of the dishwasher. Grasp the tower firmly with your hands and move it to the left to unscrew it from the dishwasher. You should feel the spray tower disengage from the dishwasher. When it does, you can simply leave it disconnected while you work on the spray arms and other parts, or you can remove it from the dishwasher and replace it if need be.
