Help With a GE QuietPower3 Dishwasher

The QuietPower III is a GE dishwasher series marketed as a thorough dish-and-flatware cleaning unit, but quiet enough not interrupt your daily routine. There are several models that fall under this series with varying features and cycle operations. As with all GE products, you can call a support line for help. Before you call for service, performing basic troubleshooting practices may save you the trouble.
  1. Won’t Run

    • If your GE QuietPower III dishwasher won’t run at all, check that it’s receiving the necessary electricity and water. The unit should be plugged into a working electrical outlet. Check that electricity service is on to your home and that the fuse or circuit breaker associated with the outlet is working. The unit should also be connected to a water valve through an unobstructed waterline. The water valve should be open and the water service active.

    Dishes Not Clean

    • If your GE QuietPower III dishwasher is running through cycles but the dishes aren’t coming out clean, there could be a few simple problems. Loading the dishwasher so that dishes don’t cover each other and blocking each other from the sprayer arms fixes that problem. The air gap, the discharge connection attached to the kitchen’s sink, may be clogged. Turn off the dishwasher and remove the chrome cap from the sink. Remove the now exposed plastic cap and clean the area with a toothpick.

    Detergent Problems

    • The detergent you use to clean your dishes in your GE QuietPower III makes a big difference in its function. If you’re having problems with the detergent, your dishes may come out of the unit dirty, stained or streaked. Check that nothing is blocking the detergent dispenser from opening during the cycle. Use the correct detergent as noted in your model’s use and care manual, and to use the correct amount as noted on the detergent package. GE also recommends JetDry or Cascade Crystal Clear rinse agents for preventing spotting or streaking.

    Noises

    • Although your GE QuietPower III dishwasher was named for its quiet cleaning cycles, some noises from the unit are normal. You may hear the snapping of the detergent cap opening, water running as the unit fills or drain sounds as the unit drains. The motor also starts and stops intermittently throughout the cycle. If you hear rattling or thumping, check that the dishes are correctly loaded. Improper loading can cause the dishes to rattle together or the sprayer arm to thump against the dishes.
