How to Replace a Faulty Drain Pump in a Dacor Dishwasher

Your Decor dishwasher includes a pump that allows water to come into the appliance during the wash cycle, then drain back out after your dishes are clean. Over time that drain pump can wear out, and when that happens you may find that the dishwasher is not filling and draining properly. You could hire a professional to install a new drain pump, or you could save money by purchasing and installing a replacement pump yourself.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the dishwasher before you begin. Never work on your Decor dishwasher without first unplugging it.

    • 2

Take the bottom dishrack out of the dishwasher. You will need easy access to the lower part of the appliance.

    • 3

Remove the bolt on top of the spray arm. Use a wrench to remove the bolt that holds the spray arm in place, then remove the screen directly beneath the spray arm.

    • 4

Remove the bolts that hold the drain pump in place, then remove the pump housing. Remove the bolt that secures the upper impeller, then remove the impeller, along with the food disposal blade, impeller hook and lower impeller. Keep all the washers and other small parts in a cup or glass so they do not get lost.

    • 5

Discard any worn pieces you removed. If the pieces are still in good shape they can be reused with the new pump.

    • 6

Place the new drain pump where the old one was and tighten the bolts to hold it in place. Reassemble the dishwasher by reversing the above steps.
