How to Fix No Hot Water in a Bosch Dishwasher

Bosch Home Appliances makes several types of built-in dishwashers, which include recessed handle, bar handle, custom panel and special application models. However, hot water is essential to most dishwashers, no matter the model. This is because the dishwasher uses a basic combination of water spraying power and heat to dissolve food and other matter from dishes. If the water in your Bosch appliance is not hot enough, the fix can be as basic and uncomplicated as the method itself for cleaning the dishes in the dishwasher.

Instructions

    • 1

Cancel the current cycle on your Bosch dishwasher if it is currently running. The cancellation buttons differ by model. For example, on recessed-handle dishwasher models, press and hold the "Start" button until the digital display shows "0:01." Alternatively, on bar-handle models, you must first open the dishwasher door to view the control panel; press and hold the "Start" button for three seconds then close the door.

    • 2

Wait for one minute while the water automatically drains from the dishwasher. Then press the "On/Off" button on the outside or inside of the door to cancel the cycle.

    • 3

Turn on the hot water tap at the kitchen sink and let it run. Observe the steam as it rises from the flow of water in the sink; this indicates that heated water is pumping through the system. Restart the cycle now that the kitchen sink is helping to increase the flow of hot water to the dishwasher.

    • 4

Open the cabinet below the kitchen sink. Locate the water supply valves for the dishwasher. Make sure the hot water is turned on. Restart the dishwasher cycle.

    • 5

Inspect the water hoses that connect to the dishwasher. Straighten out any kinks or bends in the hose then restart the cycle.

    • 6

Increase the water temperature at the water heater. In general, dishwashers need a water temperature of between 130 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit to effectively clean the dishes. Some gas water heaters use a dial that changes the temperature. Electric models require a little more work: you should first shut down the electricity that powers the unit; then you may need to unscrew a concealed control panel to access the temperature controls. The owner's manual for your water heater will have specific instructions on how to adjust the water temperature.
