How to Restore an Aluminum Dishwasher

Periodically, even the dishwasher itself must be cleaned, inside and out - especially if the aluminum finish has lost its shine. The process will take only slightly longer than a standard washing cycle.

Instructions

    • 1

Combine a cup of white vinegar and a cup of warm tap water in a bowl.

    • 2

Dip a soft-bristle brush into the vinegar solution. Brush the solution across the aluminum dishwasher finish. Be sure to brush with the grain of the finish.

    • 3

Dry the dishwasher off with a soft cloth.

    • 4

Remove the dishwasher racks. Sprinkle baking soda across the inside of the dishwasher. Scrub the inside with a soft-bristle brush. This helps to remove any food or hard water stains.

Replace the racks. Place a cup of white vinegar in a dishwasher-safe cup and place it in the top rack. Run the dishwasher on a normal cycle. This will clean the inside of the dishwasher as well as remove any odors.
