Troubleshooting a Bosch Dishwasher With Water at the Bottom That Is Still Soapy

Bosch dishwashers have a reputation for operation and years of dependable service. However, they are not immune to the occasional clogged pump or faulty hose, the most common causes of soapy water standing in the dishwasher. These problems are easily remedied with only a screwdriver or pliers. On the other hand, if the problem continues, you may have a defective timer, motor or solenoid. These repairs are more complicated and may require the help of a service technician.

Instructions

  1. Clogged Pump

    • 1

Unplug the dishwasher from the power source or flip the breaker switch to avoid electric shock.

    • 2

Unscrew the filter system, located on the bottom of the dishwasher under the rotating arm, with your hand. Take out the filter so you can access the waste water pump underneath.

    • 3

Scoop any standing water into a bucket with a cup. Use a sponge to blot up remaining water.

    • 4

Pry the round cover gently off the pump with a spoon, lifting the cover until it snaps off. Clean out any debris found in the pump and replace the cover. Reinstall the filter system and run the dishwasher.

    Clogged Drain Hose

    • 5

Unplug the Bosch dishwasher from the power source or flip the breaker switch to turn off the power. Scoop out standing water with a cup.

    • 6

Remove the kick plate from the bottom of the dishwasher to access the drain hose. Unscrew the two screws on each side to release the kick plate. Place a bowl under the hose to catch any water.

    • 7

Pinch the clamps on the drain hose with pliers to loosen them, and release the drain hose from the pump. Unscrew the metal clasp that secures the hose to the sink drain to remove the hose.

    • 8

Run water through the hose, inspecting it for leaks, kinks or damage. If the hose is in good repair, reinstall it after cleaning it out. Otherwise, replace it with a new hose. Reattach the hose to the sink drain and tighten the screws. Slide the clasp found under the dishwasher over the hose to secure it to the pump. Reinstall the kick plate and run the dishwasher.
