A Frigidaire Dishwasher That Leaks Water When I Turn It on

A number of issues can cause your Frigidaire dishwasher to leak. Diagnosing and repairing the problem will be a lot quicker if you can pinpoint the source. If you can't, you'll need to work through a troubleshooting process to isolate the cause of the leak.
  1. Door Seal

    • Check over the rubber seal around your Frigidaire dishwasher's door. If this is punctured or obstructed by dirt or debris, water can escape when you run a cycle. Clean the seal thoroughly. If you find a hole in it, you'll need to contact Frigidaire about sourcing and fitting a replacement.

    Water Inlet Pipes

    • Make sure the water inlet pipes are properly connected to the back of your Frigidaire machine. If these are not correctly screwed into the water inlet valves at the back of your washer, you may experience leakage. Turn your machine's water supply off and check that your connections are sound.

    Drainage Pipe

    • A hole in your drainage pipe will cause water to leak from your Frigidaire dishwasher when it discards dirty wash water. Look over your drainage pipe for any damage and order a replacement if you find any tears. Leaks can also be caused by blockages in the sink trap or waste disposal unit your washer's connected to.

    Detergent

    • Always use a high-quality fresh detergent designed specifically for automatic dishwashers. Measure out the amount recommended by the manufacturer precisely. Using a detergent that's not designed for use in dishwashers or over-filling your machine can result in a build up of foam in the body of your Frigidaire dishwasher that can leak out.
