How to Replace the Float Turn on a Kenmore Dishwasher

The float turn in your Kenmore dishwasher is a component located in the center of the unit's tub. When you run a wash cycle in your dishwasher, the float turn slowly rises with the addition of water into the unit. When the turn reaches a certain level, a switch is triggered that shuts off the water and prevents leakage. A faulty float turn should be replaced as soon as possible.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off your Kenmore dishwasher and shut off the power supply by flipping the breaker switch that controls the dishwasher circuit to the "Off" position.

    • 2

Open the dishwasher door and slide the lower dish rack out of the dishwasher.

    • 3

Locate the circular float assembly on the floor of the dishwasher tub. Pull the cap off the assembly. If there are screws holding the cap in place, remove them with a Phillips screwdriver.

    • 4

Pull the float turn component out of the compartment.

    • 5

Fit a new float turn in the old one's place. Push it down into the compartment until it snaps in place.

    • 6

Replace the float cover and dish rack.
