How to Disconnect a Built-in Dishwasher

Many modern homes come equipped with a dishwasher unit built into a kitchen fixture. This is convenient and saves space, but it can be complicated if you ever need to remove it. If you do need to remove a dishwasher, the first thing you must do is disconnect the supply lines. You don't have to be a plumber to do this, and it can be completed in a matter of minutes.

      Turn off your dishwasher, and turn the water shutoff valve clockwise to shut off the water supply. This valve will likely be located under your sink.

      Remove any screws holding the bottom access panel in place, and remove the panel to have access to the dishwasher connections.

      Loosen the end of the copper water line with your wrench, and remove the water line.

      Locate the plastic drain tube, and unclamp it at the end of the tube that holds it in place. Remove the tube.

      Remove the Phillips screws on the mounting brackets located at the top corners of the dishwasher. You can now move the dishwasher.
