My Danby Dishwasher's Door Is Leaking

Your Danby dishwasher saves you time and money when it comes to washing your dishes, but if the door is leaking, you'll have a big mess to clean up every time you run it. Fortunately, a leaking door is typically a problem that you can fix easily. Whether you have a countertop model or a built-in, consider the possible sources of the leak.
  1. Leveling

    • To work properly, your dishwasher must by level. Check this by placing a carpenter's level on top of the dishwasher. This problem occurs more commonly in countertop dishwashers than built-ins. All four legs should be on the counter, not resting on the edge of the sink.

    Amount of Soap

    • Adding too much soap can cause your Danby dishwasher to leak, as it creates too many suds. Try adding less soap the next time you use the machine to see if this has any effect. The soap you use should be made specifically for dishwasher use. You can eliminate the guesswork by purchasing dishwashing soap that comes in preformed capsules, rather than pouring in a liquid or powder.

    Rinse Aid

    • The rinse aid helps water to drip off of your dishes, and you add more as needed into the proper compartment. However, if you add it too soon, the compartment can overflow, which can cause some leaking. This may also occur if you drip rinse aid around the door as you're pouring it into the compartment. Clean up these spills before running your dishwasher.

    Seals

    • If your dishwasher door is still leaking despite making simple changes, the problem may be with the seal or "gasket" around the edge of the door. It's normal for this piece to wear down over time. Examine the rubber piece for holes or signs of wear and remedy the situation by replacing the seal.
