The Rubber Seal Is Leaking in My Bosch Dishwasher

A leaking rubber seal on your Bosch dishwasher inhibits the appliance's ability to complete a cleaning cycle, and requires troubleshooting in order to eliminate persistent leakage and restore use. The seal suctions to the dishwasher to maintain water inside of the appliance and can become obstructed due to improper loading, poor-quality detergent or an ajar door.
  1. Detergent

    • Detergents specifically for the dishwasher are clearly labeled on the front of the product's box, and should be used as directed to ensure a leak-free cycle. Incorrect detergents cause suds to form in the dishwasher, overloading the cycle. Adding 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the bottom of the dishwasher, then running the cleaning cycle, eliminates excessive detergent.

    Ajar Door

    • The seal connects to the dishwasher's track when the door is pushed shut, and leaks if the seal is pulled slightly away from the track. Pushing the door shut is necessary to ensure the seal is completely closed, and prevents water leakage from the seal.

    Condensation Vent

    • Condensation occurs inside of the dishwasher during a cleaning cycle and must remain clear of objects to ensure water leaks into the vent rather than building up inside of the dishwasher. The vent is located on the right side of the dishwasher's tub, and must remain clear of large objects on the cleaning rack to maintain proper drainage.

    Leveling

    • An unleveled dishwasher tilting forward puts pressure on the dishwasher's door and increases the likelihood of leaks around the seal. The dishwasher's legs are adjustable with the use of a flathead screwdriver that rotates the legs clockwise or counterclockwise to lower or raise the dishwasher's height.
