Bosch Dishwasher Won't Advance to Dry Cycle

Bosch dishwashers, designed by German engineers, are durable and dependable kitchen appliances that typically offer trouble-free operation. However, with time and use, a problem may arise and the dishwasher will not advance to the dry cycle. Before you incur the expense of calling a service technician, run a test cycle to determine if you can troubleshoot the problem. A repair manual and parts can be readily located online or from your local Bosch appliance dealer.
  1. Open Door

    • Always allow your Bosch dishwasher to run its full cycle and shut off before opening the door. All Bosch dishwashers are equipped with a safety feature that shuts the dishwasher off automatically if the door is opened. If the door has been open prior to the dishwasher completing the full cycle, the dishes will not be dry. Close the door and press "On" to resume operation.

    Rinse Agent

    • All Bosch dishwashers are designed to use a rinse agent. If the dishes are not drying properly, the rinse agent dispenser may be empty. Fill the dispenser and press "On" to resume the drying cycle.

    Test Cycle

    • All Bosch dishwashers are equipped with either a display panel that shows error codes or a program light that will illuminate to tell you the malfunction. To begin the test cycle, hold down the “Power Scrub Plus” button and the “Regular Wash” button at the same time. While you have these two buttons depressed, press down on the “On/Off” button. Your Bosch dishwasher will now run a complete test cycle. At the end of the cycle, indicator lights will illuminate if a malfunction was detected.

If the “Clean” light is illuminated, the dishwasher has a temperature sensor fault. (If the temperature sensor is at fault, the cycle will be very short as the machine will terminate the test once the problem has been found.) If the “Rinse/Dry” light is illuminated, your Bosch dishwasher cannot detect the proper water level. The dishwasher will keep filling and draining repeatedly and cannot advance to the drying cycle. The water sensor is likely broken and must be replaced. If the “Wash” button is illuminated, the dishwasher has a heating fault and the drying cycle cannot be completed.

    Control Panel

    • If your Bosch dishwasher will not advance to the dry cycle, the problem may lie in the control panel. To reprogram the control panel, unplug the dishwasher from the power source. Leave unplugged for five to 10 minutes. Plug the dishwasher in again. Select the desired wash/dry cycle and push the "On" button.

    Safety First

    • Disconnect the dishwasher from the electrical power source before attempting any repairs. Most problems with a Bosch dishwasher can be repaired by an experienced, "do-it-yourself" homeowner. Once you have located the problem, you can find a repair manual and the needed parts online or at your local Bosch appliance dealer.
