Bosch Dishwasher SHX46A06UC Is Not Heating Up

The Bosch SHX46A06UC dishwasher is a water-saving, energy-efficient kitchen appliance. Sturdy and dependable, Bosch dishwashers are typically trouble free. Thus it can be frustrating when your Bosch dishwasher is not heating up properly. Before incurring the cost of calling a service technician, try some troubleshooting tips.
  1. Safety First

    • Before troubleshooting or attempting repairs, disconnect your Bosch dishwasher from the electrical power source. Avoid the risk of personal injury or even death. Dishwashers are electrical appliances that retain water after the washing cycle is completed. Unplug the dishwasher from the electrical outlet or shut off the power at the fuse box or circuit breaker. Always wear rubber gloves and rubber soled shoes when working on your Bosch dishwasher. Pick up tools by their insulated end. Repairing electrical appliances can be dangerous if you are not qualified. If in doubt, it may be best to call a certified Bosch service technician.

Before making any "do-it-yourself" repairs, check whether your Bosch dishwasher is still under warranty. If you try to repair the appliance yourself, you may invalidate the warranty.

    Heating Element

    • Pull the dishwasher out from the cabinets to access the side panels. Remove the side panel to access the heater, fill level chamber and the flow switch. If your Bosch dishwasher is not heating properly, the fault may be a defective heating element. If your dishwasher heating element is burned out or damaged, it will need to be replaced. The problem can also be caused by a faulty thermostat, used to control the temperature of the dishwasher. If the thermostat is defective, it is time for a replacement.

    Faulty Relay

    • You may have a burnt or loose solder joint on the water heating relay circuit. Examine the joints around the relays for a faulty connection.

    Water Heater

    • If your Bosch dishwasher is not washing dishes properly because the water is not hot enough, the problem may lie with your water heater. The hot water line to your Bosch dishwasher must provide between 5- 120 psi of water pressure. The hot water tank should be set to deliver water at 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
