Bosch Dishwasher Hinge Noise

Manufactured to the exacting specifications of German engineers, Bosch dishwashers are water-saving, energy-efficient and dependable kitchen appliances. They are normally trouble free. If your dishwasher door hinge has started to make noise when you open or close the door, try these troubleshooting tips before calling a service technician.
  1. Clean the Door Hinge

    • Inspect the door hinge. Food, a bottle cap, flatware or other debris may be stuck in the door and preventing it from closing properly. If the hinge is impaired by food or built-up mineral deposits, scrub the hinges with soapy water and a soft toothbrush. Wipe dry with a clean, soft cloth. Spray the hinge lightly with lubricating oil.

    Malfunctioning Hinges

    • The hinges on your Bosch dishwasher are important to the door closing properly. The dishwasher door may have been jarred or a heavy weight placed upon it. If the hinges on your appliance are worn, bent or deformed, the door will be out of alignment. If the hinges are damaged, you will need to replace them. A hinge replacement kit can be purchased online from appliance dealers offering Bosch appliance parts or from your local Bosch appliance dealer.

    Door Springs

    • Bosch dishwashers have two springs to counterbalance the weight of the door. If either of these springs are worn out or broken, the dishwasher door feels very heavy. You will need to replace both springs.

    Door Seal

    • If your Bosch dishwasher door is not closing properly, the problem may not be in the hinge. If your dishwasher is new or you have recently replaced the door seal, it may be difficult to latch for a few weeks. Try running the dishwasher on the highest heat cycle to help the seal conform to the door. If you have an older model Bosch dishwasher, the problem may be in the seal rather than the hinge. A torn or distended seal may be preventing the door from closing correctly. A seal in good condition should be firm, without any noticeable tears or bulges. If the seal needs to be replaced, a replacement kit is readily available for purchase online from appliance repair websites that specialize in Bosch appliance parts or from your local Bosch appliance dealer.
