How to Do an Installation for the Original Dishwasher

Most modern homes come equipped with a kitchen fixture in which to install a dishwasher. Over time you may replace your home dishwasher with a new one. However, if you want to remove your current dishwasher and replace it with the original model, you probably think you need to call a technician. This isn't the case, as you can remove and install dishwashers yourself, but the process does require you to work with the dishwasher components.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the water shutoff valve underneath the sink and turn it clockwise to shut the water supply off.

    • 2

Remove the bottom panel of the current dishwasher. On some models these panels pop off, but on others you will need to remove screws with your Phillips screwdriver. Removing this panel exposes the wiring and copper water line.

    • 3

Place a pan under the area where the copper water line connects to the dishwasher.

    • 4

Unscrew the end of the line with your wrench. The pan will catch the excess water.

    • 5

Locate the plastic drain tube near the water line and unclamp the spring clip around the end of the tube. Unplug the end of the drain pipe from its fitting.

    • 6

Open the dishwasher door and locate the brackets at the top corners of the unit. This is where the dishwasher mounts to the fixture.

    • 7

Remove the Phillips screws from the brackets.

    • 8

Pull the dishwasher out of the fixture and set it aside.

    • 9

Fit the original dishwasher in the fixture and attach the screws to the brackets.

    • 10

Remove the bottom panel of the dishwasher and connect the water line and pump to the ports.

    • 11

Replace the bottom panel of the dishwasher and turn the water valve back on.
