The box depths are either 1-1/2 inches or 2-1/8 inches. The braces come in 16 inches on center or 24 inches on center.

This type of box is made out of PVC and has a notch in the middle of the box that is 1-1/2 inches wide and 2-1/8 inches deep. This box is mounted at the top of each side of the ceiling joist through the side mounting holes of the box.
