Disconnect the power to the junction box by turning off the breaker. Test the wires in the junction box using a multimeter to ensure that the power has been cut. Follow the instructions included by the manufacturer of the multi-meter for proper testing procedures.
Examine the ends of all of the wires in the junction box, and on the top of the fan.
Remove any wire nuts connected to the ends of the wires by unscrewing them, and ensure that each wire has at least 1/2 inch of bare wire on the end. If necessary, remove additional shielding using the wire strippers.
Lift the ceiling fan in place and connect the black wire from the fan, labeled "AC LIVE IN" to the black wire in the junction box. To connect the wires, hold the two ends of the wires together, then insert both wires into the wire nut. Twist the wire nut clockwise until tight.
Connect the white wire from the fan, labeled "AC NEUTRAL IN" to the white wire in the junction box.
Connect the green or bare wire from the junction box to the green grounding wire on the fan.
Mount the fan using the instructions specific to the model fan that you are installing. Then, restore power to the junction box to test the fan motor.
