How to Mount a Ceiling Fan to a Plastic Outlet Box

To mount a ceiling fan to a plastic box is possible if the fan is not too heavy for the box. The box must be reinforced to handle the weight and vibration of the fan. A wood brace will need to be added behind the box to give the necessary strength to the box. Access to the attic or ceiling area behind the box will be needed.
