Hampton Bay 191-707 Installation Instructions

Many homes have ceiling fans already installed for better air circulation. The problem with many ceiling fans is that they operate on a single wall switch that supplies power to the entire fan. This means that the light and fan are both controlled by the same switch. The Hampton Bay 191-707 Remote Control lets you control the light separately from the fan. You can even control the fan's speed remotely without having to reach up and pull the chain.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the main switch at your electrical box to ensure that no power is going to the wall switch or to the fan.

    • 2

Remove the ceiling fan canopy from the mounting bracket that connects it at the ceiling, using a screwdriver. Have a friend support the fan while you disconnect all wiring from the fan and set it down.

    • 3

Twist the green fan wire around the bare supply wire and twist them together. Use a wire cap to secure the wires together.

    • 4

Connect the black and white wires from the ceiling individually to the black and white wires on the receiver unit marked "AC IN." Use wire caps to secure them.

    • 5

Have a friend support the fan and connect the white and black wires on the receiver marked "TO MOTOR" to the respective black and white wires on the fan. Use wire caps to secure them.

    • 6

Connect the blue receiver wire marked "FOR LIGHT" to the blue wire in the fan. Use a wire cap to secure the wires together.

    • 7

Push the receiver up into the ceiling and reinstall the fan to the mounting bracket.

    • 8

Turn on the main switch of your electrical box.

    • 9

Install a 9V battery in the remote and test its function.
