Turn off the power to the line that will be feeding the ceiling fan.
Run a 12/3 with ground or 14/3 with ground cable from the switches to the fan. These cables have four total wires which will be used as ground, neutral and two hot wires.
Use a wire nut to connect a small section of black wire from one pole on each switch to the hot wire from the electrical source.
Use a second nut to connect a small section of green or bare copper wire from each green grounding terminal to the ground wire from the electrical source and the ground wire of the cable installed in Step 1. Connect the ground wire of your cable to the green or bare wire of the ceiling fan.
Use a wire nut to connect the white neutral wire from the electrical source to the white wire of the cable installed in Step 1, then connect the other end of the white wire to the white wire on the ceiling fan.
Connect the black wire of the cable installed in Step 1 to the remaining pole on the switch you will use for the fan, then connect the other end to the black wire on the ceiling fan with a wire nut.
Connect the red wire of the cable installed in Step 1 to the remaining pole on the switch you will use for the light, then connect the other end to the red or blue wire on the ceiling fan with a wire nut.
Install the switch covers and fasten the ceiling fan to the fan mounting box, then turn the power back on.
