How to Fix a Broken Start Knob on a GE Washer Model WDSR2080DAWW

General Electric's WDSR2080DAWW washer uses a push/pull start knob that also controls the various wash cycles. Pushing in the knob and twisting it clockwise sets the desired wash cycle then pulling the knob outward, until it clicks, starts the washer. If the start knob breaks, it must be replaced. This is easy to do with a pair of pliers, a replacement knob and a few spare minutes.

    • 1

Unplug the washing machine's power cord from the wall outlet.

    • 4

Align the D-shaped opening on the back of the new knob with the shaft and push it in place until it clicks.
