How to Disassemble a Maytag Neptune Dryer With a Glass Door

Neptune automatic dryers manufactured by Maytag come in a range of models with varying design elements. Many of the front-loading models are equipped with a glass door so you can view the interior while the dryer is running. Portions of the dryer cabinet can be removed when necessary. To repair or replace internal components of the dryer, you must first disassemble the cabinet.

Instructions

      Unplug the power cord. Disconnect the vent from the back of the Maytag Neptune dryer.

      Remove the screws holding the cover plate to the back of the control console. Tilt the console forward.

      Disconnect the electrical connectors from their sockets in the console. Set the console aside.

      Open the glass door. Remove the screws along the inside of the doorframe. Remove the screws holding the hinges in place.

      Lift the door up and away from the dryer to completely remove it.

      Lift the front panel up to disconnect it from the base. Set it aside.

      Remove the screws holding the top panel in place. Lift the top panel up to remove it.

      Remove the screws holding the shroud in place in front of the drum. Remove the shroud.

      Move the idler pulley toward the left under the drum. Slide the belt off of the pulleys and drum.

      Lift the drum out of the dryer.
