How to Disassemble a Whirlpool Washing Machine Model TAWS800JQ2

The TAWS800JQ2 is a top-loading, automatic washing machine manufactured by the Whirlpool company under the Estate brand name. In some situations, it may be necessary to take the machine apart. Many of the important internal components can only be accessed by disassembling the washing machine cabinet. With the washer disassembled, parts such as the tub, motor and pumps can be repaired, replaced or inspected.

Instructions

      Unplug the power cord. Turn off the water supply leading to the washing machine. Remove the water inlet hoses from the back of the unit.

      Remove the two screws holding the front corners of the control console to the top of the washer. Tip the console back to rest on its rear hinges.

      Disconnect the electrical harness leading from the console to the washer cabinet.

      Insert the tip of the flat-blade screwdriver into the clips holding the console to the top rear area of the cabinet. Pry the clips out of their compartments. Lift the console off and set it aside.

      Open the lid. Grasp the inside of the cabinet in the front of the lid opening. Tilt the cabinet forward to disconnect it from the washer base.

      Lift the cabinet up and away from the tub to completely remove it.
