How to Replace the Cooktop Glass for the Frigidaire PLCS389EC

The Frigidaire PLCS389EC is a dual fuel range, which means the range requires both gas and electricity to operate. The burners use electricity to ignite, but then run on gas. Although the cooktop has burner grates to protect the burners and the glass top, occasionally the glass may crack, which requires replacement. Replacing the glass yourself will only take a few minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the power to your Frigidaire range by unplugging it from the electrical outlet.

    • 2

Lift off all the burner grates and burner caps.

    • 3

Unscrew all the burner heads with a Phillips screwdriver, and lift the burner heads off. All the burner heads have two screws holding them in place. This will leave four empty holes in the cooktop where the burner heads were. The burner heads screw into the burner assembly kits that are installed underneath the cooktop.

    • 4

Unscrew the screws along the edges of the range, and lift the front of the cooktop.

    • 5

Slide the existing glass out toward you.

    • 6

Insert the new glass by sliding it into place.

    • 7

Lower the front of the cooktop, and screw it back together.

    • 8

Reverse the steps to replace the burner heads, caps and grates.
