Repairing the Thermostat in a Whirlpool Refrigerator ED25QFXHW00

The Whirlpool ED25QFXHW00 is a side-by-side refrigerator freezer manufactured for home use. The thermostat inside the refrigerator regulates and controls the temperature. If the thermostat is defective or damaged, the refrigerator will not run properly. Replace the faulty thermostat with a new part to return the appliance to proper working condition.

      Unplug the refrigerator power cord.

      Open the refrigerator door. Lift the top shelves out and set aside.

      Pull the thermostat control knobs straight out to remove them.

      Remove the screw on the left side of the control panel cover. Unhook the four tabs holding the control panel cover to the refrigerator. Lift the cover off and set aside.

      Remove the two screws holding the thermostat to the thermostat bracket.

      Unplug the temperature sensing tube from the end of the thermostat. Remove the thermostat from the refrigerator.

      Place the new thermostat onto the thermostat bracket. Install the two screws that hold the thermostat in place.

      Plug the end of the thermostat into the temperature sensing tube.

      Replace the thermostat control panel cover. Press the edges of the cover down to lock the tabs in place. Install the single screw on the left side of the control panel cover.

      Replace the thermostat control knobs. Press them onto their shafts until they snap into place.
