How to Change the Fuse in a Sharp Model R-209BK

The Sharp Model R-209BK is a compact carousel microwave oven designed for countertop use. The microwave oven has a safety fuse built in the switch assembly behind the control panel. If the amperage draw in the microwave exceeds the capacity of the fuse, the fuse breaks the circuit and shuts down the Sharp to prevent overheating. With normal use, the microwave will operate again when the appliance cools. However, if the fuse breaks, the entire appliance shuts down. Not even the interior light will illuminate when the door is opened. Replacing the fuse takes less than an hour.
