Turn the air pressure relief lever on the filter pump clockwise to bleed air out of the lines.
Remove the cover on the filter pump to expose the strainer basket inside. Clean out leaves and other debris from the basket, then fill it with water.
Push on the pump supply hose at the front of the Polaris PB-4 and the discharge hose on the port at the top of the Polaris to verify both are securely attached. Tighten the rotating connector on each hose clockwise to secure them, if necessary. You'll soon notice any leaks at the supply hose in the front of the booster pump once the filter pump is running.
Switch on the pool's filter pump, but not the Polaris PB-4, which is separate. The filter pump typically has a lever on the side that turns clockwise to start the device and override any timer mechanism that may be installed.
Close the air pressure relief valve on the filter pump when water begins to spray from the valve.
Twist the lever on the main valve between the filter pump and the Polaris so the lever is parallel with the pipes. Water can now flow to the Polaris PB-4 and prime the pump without risk of trapped air.
Wait 30 seconds for the Polaris to fill with water before switching on the pump at the main control panel.
