How to Install the Ignition in a Toro S-200

The Toro Company is a landscape maintenance equipment manufacturer that markets its products in more than 70 countries worldwide. The Toro S-200 is a lightweight, single-stage snowblower that makes it quick and painless to eliminate snow from walkways and driveways. When the ignition coil on your Toro S-200 goes out, you will have to replace it to get the snowblower running again. Fortunately, you can install a new ignition coil in a Toro S-200 in just a couple of hours.

Instructions

    • 1

Route the boot end of the ignition coil assembly between the spark plug and carburetor components.

    • 2

Fit the two ignition assembly wire connectors onto the ignition switch terminals. Plug the spark plug wire and boot into the spark plug receptacle.

    • 3

Hold the ignition coil component to the snowblower frame, just above the flywheel. Insert and tighten the two mounting screws; tuck the ground wire under the left screw before tightening.

    • 4

Rotate the flywheel so the magnets on the perimeter align with the ignition coil. Loosen the ignition coil mounting screws slightly and insert a small piece of card stock between the coil and flywheel. Tighten the screws until the coil is just touching the card stock to ensure the two components are positioned appropriately. Remove the card stock.

    • 5

Place the blower housing in front of the flywheel. Align the fuel line clip with the bracket on the top of the blower housing; insert and tighten the mounting screw to secure the clip and bracket. Install the two mounting screws used to hold the blower housing in place.

    • 6

Hook the governor spring onto the adjacent linkage, using a pair of needle-nose pliers.

    • 7

Fit the cover over the carburetor component. Tighten the new nuts on the front of the cover to secure.

    • 8

Hold the starter switch housing to the right rear side of the snowblower. Insert and tighten the mounting screw.

    • 9

Position the main shroud on top of the snowblower. Install two screws at the front and back of the snowblower to hold the shroud in place.
