• On a Maytag washing machine, the anti-siphon valve is a plastic device located on the top of the drain hose where it connects to the washer in the back. The valve is on the right side on the rear of the appliance. However, all Maytag washers do not have an anti-siphon valve.

Causes of Leaks

• The anti-siphon valve may be leaking for a number of reasons. Since most anti-siphon valves are plastic, this less durable material is easily cracked and damaged. However, like all washing machine components, it is subject to wear and tear and may have simply worn out. A leak from the anti-siphon valve will show up as water on the floor at the rear of the washing machine on the right side.

The advantage of purchasing this device is that it combines the water inlet valve -- which controls the flow of hot and cold water into the machine -- and the anti-siphon valve into one seamless piece.
